Comfort, safety, and reassurance through the night.
Overnight Care provides support during the night from a trained Caregiver who stays in your home. Whether someone needs help with mobility, medication, toileting, reassurance, or simply the comfort of knowing a professional is present, overnight care ensures peaceful nights for both clients and families.
What Overnight Care Can Include
Overnight care can cover any of our core care services, depending on needs:
- Companionship & reassurance — reducing anxiety or night time confusion
- Home Help at night — support with settling in, preparing for morning routines
- Personal Care — help with toileting, repositioning, mobility, and night time hygiene
- Clinical Care — nurse-supervised tasks such as monitoring, medication prompts, or managing overnight health needs
- Complex Care — support for dementia, movement disorders, health changes, or palliative needs
Overnight care can be arranged as a sleep-in (Caregiver rests but is available if needed) or a waking night (Caregiver remains awake throughout the night).
Why Overnight Care Helps
Night-time can be when people feel most vulnerable. Overnight care offers:
- Safety when getting in and out of bed
- Peace of mind for families who may worry during the night
- Preventing falls or confusion
- Help with medication timing
- Comfort for those who wake up frequently
- Support for conditions that worsen at night (e.g., dementia, pain, respiratory challenges)
- A calmer, more restful environment
The presence of a trained professional can transform night-time from a source of anxiety into a period of rest.
How Overnight Care Works
Your Caregiver can:
- Help with evening wind-down routines
- Assist with toileting or repositioning
- Provide reassurance and emotional comfort
- Monitor wellbeing and respond to any needs
- Help with early morning routines if visits overlap into breakfast hours
- Communicate any health changes to families or daytime teams
The structure of the night is tailored to each person’s sleep patterns, health needs, and preferences.
